135 MW Power Generation Plant
This 135 MW gas-ready power plant project, structured as a 20-year BOOT (Build-Own-Operate-Transfer) contract with the national utility Senelec, exemplifies advanced energy solutions in Senegal. The plant features seven Wartsila gas-ready 18V50 engines integrated with a steam turbine, enhancing efficiency and future fuel flexibility.
Financing was secured through a comprehensive senior A loan package provided by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the OPEC Fund, BADEA, and BOAD. The project also benefitted from a 50 billions FCFA bridge loan structure by Oragroup which allowed for the completion of the construction works.
The Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract as led by Matelec SAL, with Wartsila serving as the designated subcontractor.
The project was developped by co-developped by MP Energy acting on behalf of the main shareholder Melec Powergen (55%), Africa50 (30%) and Senelec (15%).
